Ever gotten a QR code via email or text? Don't scan it!
QR code scams in Malaysia, also known as "quishing," involve using fraudulent QR codes in emails or physical locations to trick you into visiting fake websites, downloading malware, or sending money to a scammer's account. To protect yourself, always inspect QR codes for signs of tampering, be wary of those in public places, verify the sender and destination link before scanning, and if you become a victim, immediately contact your bank and report the incident to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 997 and the police.
